Assign cases to subordinates, coordinate work flow operations, and supervise staff through case review, guidance, and consultation. Responsible for assisting with staff clinical training, resolving problems and ensuring quality services are provided. Responsible for the quality of clinical services provided by staff. Review and gather additional information on al new referrals to the program; present all new referrals to the interdisciplinary team to evaluate client appropriateness for admission. Provide professional social work service to clients. Work involves evaluating client’s situation and their ability to deal with it, developing a social history, psychosocial assessment, service plan and/or treatment plan, discharge planning and follow-up. May provide information to and confer with schools, natural and foster parents on habilitation plans, behavior management and other problem areas or needs. May develop community or service resources. Responsible for assisting with staff coverage, supervision and training, resolving problems and ensuring quality services are provided. May provide input to higher level management on administrative, personnel, and budget issues. Essential job functions include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Essential Job Functions: •Planning - Work involves reviewing program objectives and service delivery needs with staff and formulating specific goals and objectives for the assigned program area. Provide input to higher-level management on short-range planning needs for staff or unit. •Oversee and Participate in the Intake and Assessment of residents; direct the clinical components of the program. •Organizing and Directing - Assign cases to staff and maintain workload balance. Make changes in work procedures to meet program demands and present recommendations to management on issues which impact on programmatic goals, objectives and policies. •Budgeting – Minimally involved in the development, justification, or allocation of funds. May manage a small unit budget necessary for staff administrative expenditures. •Training - Provide on-the-job clinical training for staff and make arrangements for staff to receive formal training when offered. •Setting Work Standards - Ensure that policies, rules and regulations are followed. Explain and implement changes when necessary. •Reviewing Work - Monitor the work of subordinate staff through case reviews, progress reports, conferences, weekly care planning meetings and informal discussions to assure compliance with operational standards and established policies. Delegate responsibilities to Social Worker(s). •Counseling and Disciplining - Discuss problems with staff and, in collaboration with members of Management, issue initial oral warnings for disciplinary action. •Performing Other Personnel Functions - Interview applicants for positions supervised and make recommendations to higher level management on hiring decisions. Provide input on discussions concerning promotions and salary adjustments for individuals supervised. Participate in subordinate's performance evaluation and approve leave requests. •Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation. •Other relevant duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications: •Per North Carolina state regulations, must be at least 21 years of age •Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively. •Valid drivers’ license and proof of insurance; •5 years recent management or supervisory experience; •Current, full licensure as a Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina required. (Provisional license accepted if working under an LCSW.) Education: •Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and two year’s of social work or counseling experience. •The college or university degree shall be from a college or university listed at the time of the degree in the Higher Education Directory.
