The Department of Psychological Science at Missouri University of Science and Technology is seeking applications for a one-year post doctoral fellow. The position is funded by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture through a National Science Foundation, Cyberphysical Systems grant. This is a multidisciplinary project involving research with complementary expertise in social and behavioral sciences, sensor networks and cyber-physical systems, and power engineering and energy management.
Some of the primary project goals include social behavioral user modeling for smart home environments, social-behavior-aware optimization of energy consumption, and identifying psychological and behavioral factors influencing efficacy and user engagement in smart home environments. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in social and behavioral sciences with emphasis on decision making, persuasion, modeling user behaviors, or other related areas. The primary duties associated with the position involve full implementation of experimental methodology (design, implementation, analysis, and publication) aimed at examining underlying social behavioral factors that influence user behaviors in smart home environments. Additional duties such as providing supervisory support for applied research projects involving graduate students may also be required.
Will work closely with the project PI's at Missouri S&T and University of Kentucky's Computer Science Department, but will be encouraged and expected to conduct experimental research and take the lead in producing publications from both existing and newly derived experimental data sets.
