This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more Neuropsychologists at this level diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities including individual, group and family psychotherapy, provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders, and may conduct research. They may be assigned to any program area. The incumbent is assigned to the Behavioral Health Service Line. They consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Neuropsychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities. Staff Neuropsychologists may support the psychology internship through participation in seminars. In addition to providing direct patient care, Neuropsychologists do have limited administrative/managerial duties, including but not limited to: Provide assessment of a range of neuropsychological conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings. Proficient in administration and interpretation of a wide range of neuropsychological and psychological assessment instruments. Proficient in writing integrative neuropsychological reports with recommendations. Provide psychoeducational feedback to Veterans and family members regarding aspects of cognitive impairment and compensatory strategies. Provide assessment of and provide plans and guidance on for cognitive rehabilitation. Provide clinical supervision to psychology trainees at internship and post-doctoral levels. Provide supportive counsel to Veterans and families as clinically indicated. Provide education to other disciplines and service lines as indicated. Function independently as a member of the VHAPTH Behavioral Health staff, with clinical privileges designated through a detailed Scope of Practice Functional Statement. Assumes professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, Veteran care decisions, and documentation, under the supervision of the supervisory psychologist BHIP program manager.
