The UCSF Child and Adolescent Support, Advocacy and Resource Center (CASARC) Seeks HS Clinical Faculty Psychologist
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for an Attending Psychologist at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG). Opportunities include a position as an Attending Psychologist at UCSF/ZSFG's Child and Adolescent Support, Advocacy & Resource Center (CASARC).
CASARC is a unique multidisciplinary clinic that serves children, youth, and families that have been impacted by sexual abuse, physical abuse, witnessed severe domestic violence or who have a family member who has been a victim of severe interpersonal violence, including family members of homicide victims. CASARC is a program of the Division of Trauma Recovery Services (DTRS), which is part of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (DPBS).
Our multidisciplinary team consists of a psychiatrist, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, pediatricians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. ZSFG is the only hospital in San Francisco where families can go for forensic evidence collection related to sexual abuse, a service provided by CASARC. CASARC is also the home of the San Francisco Children's Advocacy Center (CAC). Through the CAC, CASARC provides forensic multidisciplinary interviews to aid in the investigation of sexual abuse.
Many of our families are monolingual Spanish speaking and/or bilingual. As such, our team offers services in English and Spanish and we look forward to expanding our capacity to serve more monolingual Spanish speaking families. Our team is well versed in understanding interpersonal violence in a broader societal context, including the ways that structural racism and systemic inequities have perpetuated cycles of violence and barriers to care in underserved communities. We value providing respectful care grounded in cultural humility.
Our mental health providers conduct clinical assessment, crisis intervention, individual, play, didactic, group and family therapy, using trauma-focused and evidence-based/evidence-informed interventions, in person and via telehealth. Our comprehensive care includes clinical case management and coordinating services with schools and other San Francisco child and family agencies. We pride ourselves on our assertive outreach efforts to engage difficult to reach families. Our mental health providers are trained in a variety of evidence-based treatments including, but not limited to, Trauma-Focused CBT (TFCBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). All clinicians receive weekly supervision and attend other training and supervision spaces to help mediate the impact of vicarious trauma.
CASARC is eager to rebuild our robust multidisciplinary training program for master's and doctoral level trainees, including creating a child specific trauma seminar series. We also look forward to the possibility of seeking extramural funding to expand our clinical care team and service capacity.
