Behavioral Health Therapist - Wilmington, DE

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position will provide office based clinical assessment and mental health therapy services for a diverse caseload of patients. This position is a hybrid mix of remote/virtual work and in person office based work.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts individual psychotherapy with assigned patients and group therapy sessions using evidence-based practices.
- Conducts psychosocial evaluations to provide diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations.
- Develops coordinated treatment plan in collaboration with other members of the treatment team.
- Reports and updates pertinent patient information to physician and treatment team in a timely manner.
- Identifies milieu deficits and assists in implementing appropriate measures to meet needs.
- Tracks referrals of patients requesting services.
- Ongoing coordination of care with medical providers and psychiatric providers inside and outside the ChristianaCare.
- Completes clinical documentation in a concise, accurate, and timely manner with proper use of technology.
- Participates in all milieu meetings, i.e., practice huddles, team meeting, clinical supervision, community meetings etc.
- Participates in all assigned programs and attends all continuing education opportunities to meet job requirements and maintain current knowledge of the practice of psychotherapy and social work.
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to adult patients, including knowledge of the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and to provide the care needed.
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Performs other related duties as required.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
Constant contact with the therapeutic milieu and treatment team to facilitate a positive, caring, and supportive atmosphere for positive change in all patients.
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
May supervise LCSW intern and/or LMSW
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Director or Lead Psychologist/Therapist
Practice Manager (operationally)
Clinical supervision provided according to DSAMH licensure and Payor requirements. (Substance Use program only)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or LCSW preferred
LMSW may be considered with requirements to obtain LCSW within 1-year and/or LPCMH for specific populations
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in mental health setting preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of individual evidence-based therapy techniques.
Knowledge of group therapy, process and dynamics.
Knowledge of patient rights and legal issues.
Ability to set patient goals.
Ability to deal effectively with psychiatric patients who are difficult and at time threatening.
Ability to ambulate quickly and to utilize motor skills in response to psychiatric emergencies.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of departmental and patient information.
Ability to address and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments.
Ability to work constructively with treatment team and establish working relationships.
Ability to form therapeutic relationship with patients.
Ability to assume responsibility and help maintain milieu.
Ability to maintain eye contact and verbalize appropriately with management, staff, patients, and their families.
Ability to maintain a helpful, courteous, and cooperative attitude towards patients, staff, families, and other hospital personnel.
Ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives, and carry out decisions.
Skill in facilitating group progress.
Skill in written and oral communication.
