To provide specialty mental health treatment to Veterans enrolled for care at the Harrison, AR Community Based Outpatient Clinic. This includes providing a full range of biopsychosocial evaluation, basic psychological test administration, evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy, and treatment planning. This is accomplished in cooperation with other members of the Mental Health team and/or other interdisciplinary treatment teams as appropriate. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Must posses a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure: Applicants must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Grade Determination Senior Social Worker GS-12: Licensure/Certification: Senior social workers must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice) and they must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Experience/Education: In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice. Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. GS-11 KSA's include: Independently practice social work. A GS-12 social worker has a Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) granted by a graduate program fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and at least two years in an area of specialized social work practice. A GS-12 Social Worker is licensed at an advanced practice (independent) level in the state in which they are licensed. Duties performed include, but are not limited to the following: All clinical care will be documented in the current VA medical record system, and will comply with all current program, medical center, VA and accreditation body requirements for clinical and administrative record-keeping. The Senior Social Workers will also identify high-risk patients and provide comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning, to include crisis intervention appropriate for an outpatient setting or by making appropriate referrals to a higher level of care. The Senior Social Workers will, when clinically indicated, coordinate and communicate about care decisions with family members, caregivers and other health care providers in accordance with federal laws and veteran preferences. As a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, the Senior Social Workers integrates assessment data and provides leadership in preparing and implementing the plan of care.
