Job Summary: Eastern Washington University, College of Professional Programs, School of Psychology invites applications for a Lecturer with the working title of Visiting Assistant Professor - Psychology to support the CACREP accredited MS Counseling Program, as well as other Department needs, to begin September 16, 2022.
Eastern's School of Psychology is committed to the selection, training, supervision, and professional success of students in our various programs and in the Masters of Science in Counseling degree, in keeping with the high standards established by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The program offers a structured sequence of curricular and clinical experiences with an emphasis on closely supervised training experiences both at the University and in the community.
Program faculty members have established strong relationships with community agencies, and students engage in meaningful practica and internship experiences across their time in the program. Thus, counseling training occurs in a learning community that is intentionally focused on both skill development and personal growth of students. In this way, the program fulfills its purpose of preparing diverse, competent, and caring professional counselors to meet the needs of diverse urban and rural communities. The selected candidate will join a committed and enthusiastic School faculty.
Responsibilities: The current position includes primary responsibilities for teaching within the CACREP Accredited MS Counseling Program, with additional support of other School needs (e.g., undergraduate psychology courses). Teaching modalities will include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Opportunities for summer teaching, although not required, may be available.
Teach 45 credits per academic year, subject to School needs, primarily at EWU's main campus in Cheney, WA. Teach courses in this CACREP-approved program such as, Research Methods, Group Theory and Process, Family Systems, Practicum and Internship supervision, and/or other courses that fulfill the need of the School and Program
Advise students who are declared majors on School, College, and University requirements and career opportunities
Participate in the leadership of local, state, and regional professional organizations, including serving/chairing the Mental Health Advisory Board when needed
Collect, retain, and disseminate course and program data for accrediting bodies and to maintain professional standards
Collaborate with colleagues in utilization of creativity and best practice knowledge in curriculum development, classroom instruction, and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Counselor Education; ABD candidates may be considered (Doctorate must be conferred by 9/1/2022 for this position which begins 9/16/2022)
Eligible for credential as a licensed mental health counselor in Washington
Competent with and experienced using, database, email, and other forms of instruction technology
Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of core courses in Counseling.
Demonstrated ability to supervise student practicum and internship, and advise students.
A high degree of interest in human and cultural diversity, social justice, and experiential and community-based education.
Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in professional settings such as colleges or mental health agencies.
Demonstrated ability to teach in an online format using synchronous and asynchronous components
Experience teaching university or college graduate level Counseling and Psychology courses
Commitment to quality teaching and student development
Teaching includes the following additional responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA:
Meet all scheduled classes: Plan, organize and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance expectations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
Schedule and attend office hours: Turn in grades according to established deadlines
All faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of learning outcomes.
Faculty are expected to attend School and Program specific meetings

Conditions of Employment: The required start date for this position is 09/16/2020. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 09/16/2022.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
