The Transplant Service Line is pleased to announce a position opening for a full-time clinical psychologist for the Rush Transplant Program in Chicago, IL. The Rush Transplant Service Line provides a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, utilizing the talents and resources of a broad team with many years of experience in the transplant field. Rush Transplant offers an unparalleled network of coordinated services for those in need of kidney, living donor kidney, pancreas, and liver transplants. The Transplant Psychologist position is a highly valued team member of the Transplant Service Line. This position is primarily in the outpatient transplant setting with some care provided in the inpatient unit.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological evaluations for live organ donors. Evaluation includes interview and appropriate testing to rule out contraindications for donation.
• Conduct psychological interviews and testing for potential organ recipients referred by transplant providers.
• Attend and participate in all interdisciplinary Transplant selection committee meetings.
• Work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary Transplant teams to develop clinical practice guidelines to ensure participation and buy in of the respective disciplines, including the program's medical and surgical directors.
• Provide the full range of evidenced-based psychological screening, assessment, psychosocial & behavioral interventions (e.g., individual, group, family), and education to patients seen in the Transplant Service using best practice models.
• Provide assessment to patients in the Transplant Service with histories of self-harm, addiction, mental health conditions and prior trauma as well as individuals now at increased risk for depression, PTSD, and relational, financial, and other challenges.
• Demonstrate competence in diversity of all patients, families, and colleagues with respect to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, gender, gender identity, ability status, religion, political beliefs, socioeconomic status, and any other factors related to systemic oppression.
• Consult and collaborate with interdisciplinary Transplant team members to develop intervention strategies related to physical and psychosocial challenges.
• Actively participate in treatment and follow-up planning for patients and families.
• Chart patient visits using an electronic medical record.
• Triage and refer patients as needed to collaborating colleagues across disciplines, departments, and communities.
• Participate in Transplant Service quality and program development projects.
• Participate in training Health Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellows in Clinical Health Psychology as well as Residents and Fellows in the specialty clinical Department.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology (PhD.) or Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited institution
• One year APA approved internship in Clinical Psychology
• Licensed to practice Psychology in the State of Illinois
• Training and/or experience in clinical health psychology
• Experience in an area of hepatology, oncology, nephrology, cardiology or related medical populations a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-directed and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
