The Social Worker works in the Post-9/11 Military2VA Case Management Program (M2VA) at the Madison VA Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Duties and responsibilities relate to the care management of the Post 9/11 Veterans receiving care at the Madison VA hospital and clinics. Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. GRADE DETERMINATES: In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. Grade Determinations: GS-11 Level Experience and Licensure: Completion of a minimum of one year of post-MSW experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the field of health care or other social work-related settings, (VA or non-VA experience) and licensure or certification in a state at the independent practice level. OR Education: A doctoral degree in social work from a school of social work may be substituted for the required one year of professional social work experience in a clinical setting. The Social Worker provides professional, independent social work services in the assigned area and also completes additional duties as assigned by Post 9/11 Military2VA Program Coordinator and/or the Outpatient Medical Social Work Program Coordinator to assist in meeting the goals of the department. Duties include, but are not limited to: Independently complete triage assessments and determine if more comprehensive psychosocial assessment is clinically indicated. Act as an advocate for services specific to Post 9/11 Veterans with service providers and agencies. Identify family/caregiver stressors, conduct assessment and provide specific interventions. Serve on committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility and VISN level or in the community. Provide subject matter consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of Post 9/11 Veterans offering professional opinions based on experience, expertise and role modeling effective social work practice skills.
