Overview
Atlantic Health System is seeking a Per diem Mental Health Assistant for the I/P Psychiatric unit at Newton Medical Center to work varied 12 hour shifts including every other weekend.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Demonstrated knowledge & understanding of psychiatric disorders & patients.
Use therapeutic communication skills in individual & group interactions with psychiatric patients.
Provide 1-to-1 interventions with patients. Crisis identification & management including de-escalation.
Assist nursing staff with variety of tasks/activities. Thorough, accurate, timely documentation of tasks/activities.
Through the model of Shared Governance, collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidenced based care within a healing culture for the patients and their families.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelors degree in applicable field
Minimum Experience:
1-2 years relevant clinical work experience preferred
Nursing Students are Welcome.
Licenses/Certifications:
Active BLS or will obtain within 90 days of employment
