JOB SUMMARY: The Supervisor, Interpretation Services Call Center will oversee a group of Harris Health Spanish Interpreters. The incumbent will provide leadership and support to the department, including observation, mentoring and coaching of direct reports and conducts employee performance appraisals. The Supervisor identifies and assists in fulfilling the psychosocial needs of the non-English speaking patients, visitors and patients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Licensure: Certified Medical Interpreter or Certified Healthcare Interpreter preferred
Work Experience: Four (4) years experience in medical interpretation in a health care setting or equivalent interpretation experience, healthcare experience preferred.
Languages: Spanish required (Must pass a language proficiency examination as designated by Harris Health System)
Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact) Bilingual Skills Required Yes Languages: Spanish/ English Writing/Composing (Correspondence / Reports)
Other Skills: Medical Term Typing (wpm) 35 PC Word Processing
Work Schedule:Weekends Holidays Flexible
Other Requirements: Must be able to answer written questions in the desired language(s) and demonstrate the ability to interpret in that language. Proficiency assessment/ competency: Candidates must pass a language proficiency examination in medical terminology, Spanish and English.
